Motorcycle: Moto Guzzi MGR 1200
Customizer: Radical Guzzi
Rider: Josef Leitl
Radical Guzzi were already extremely successful at the Essenza Sprints in 2016, and in 2017, they want to be at the very front. They won’t be building a completely new bike in the Bavarian town of Schwandorf to reach this goal. Instead, they are heading into the race with a revamped and performance-enhanced version of last year’s super-fast MGR 1200. The extensively modified frame is originally from a Moto Guzzi Bellagio. The engine, gearbox and cardan shaft are the contribution of a Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 – tuned with special pistons, camshafts and cylinder heads that were crafted in-house. The result: a modern Cafe Racer with incredible torque, a classic look and state-of-the-art technology. And totally geared towards sprint races.
After last year’s races, Josef Leitl alias Lightning Sepp still feels at home on the MGR 1200. The 52 year-old speed freak used to be active on the dragster circuit and has just one simple motto: “Rivals on the track, friends at the party.”
